Korea and its relation to Civilization 5In Civilization 5, Korea is depicted as this culture that advances through the technology tree very quickly. Since the in-game civilizations are based upon historical events, this is an accurate display, although not entirely true. The Korean civilization is based upon one specific era where king Sejong created the Korean language. Because of this the literacy rate went up as well as the technological advancements. Although throughout Korea's history they have not always been at the top, In recent years Korea has fallen behind first to America, then to Japan.

SecularismSecularism is a section of the social policy Rationalism that states you get +2 from every specialist. The specialists in the game are not all scientists, some are army generals and artists, these other people do not contribute to the world of science as the scientist does. In Korea's history there have been many great inventions from scientists like Jang Young Sil who made the self striking water clock. This invention advanced the culture's the technology by making a clock that runs on its own. Another invention of the Hwacha, a medieval rocket launcher, that can shoot many arrows at a single time, progressing not only science but advanced warfare as well. This shows that Civilization messed that up a little having every specialist progressing science. Still it would be safe to say that Civilization 5 really knows its stuff.

Empire HappinessHappiness is one of rationalism's policy that makes the civilization get a boost of 15% to science if the empire has enough happiness. In my opinion, When we use rationalism with the civilization "Korea", when the Korean empire is happy Korea might be able to get lots of benefit of science. This relates to the Sejong Dynasty when Korea really started up their science by making schools and universities, while also making them available to the lower classes of the empire. This increased the average intelligence and allowing more minds to input their ideas.
