One thing that isn't really correctly portrayed in the game is how they described that the units will battle at full strength even when damaged—we all know that a injured person can't fight as well as he would if he was not wounded. In the Japanese history, Samurai warriors were supposed to ready to give their lives for their country, to fight to their deaths if they had to. But if they lost a battle and returned to their home without dying then they had to commit Seppuku (abdomen cutting) suicide. To them, losing a battle was like losing their honor and they held their honor more important their own lives. So we believe that by saying this (that the units will fight at full strength even when they are wounded) the creators of the game mean to express that the warriors will not hesitate to die for their country.

Oda Nobunaga
Oda Nobunaga (織田 信長, June 23, 1534 -- June 21, 1582) was the second son of Oda Nobuhide, a deputy shugo (military governor) who held land in the Owari Province. He was the initiator of the unification of Japan under the rule of the Shogun in the late Sixteenth Century–a rule that ended only when Japan was opened to the Western world in 1868. He was quick to adopt new military technology (pikes for foot soldiers, and then muskets), and he was a brilliant military strategist. He lived a life of continuous military conquest, eventually conquering a third of Japanese country before his death in 1582. His work was continued, completed and finalized by his successors Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Tokugawa Ieyasu.

Our Story In The Video:
The general has lost the battle and thus he is committing suicide, because he thinks he has lost all his honor.
He is ready and the blade is in front of him, then he says: I am so ashamed of myself and as a warrior of the Samurai, I must do what should be done. 私はとても恥ずかしい。ひとりのさむらいとして、なにかしなければならない。 Then he opens his shirt to expose his abdomen and picks up the blade. His daughter cries out, saying: Please, Father, stop. I can’t lose you, no matter what, you are the hero in my heart. おねがい、どうかおとうさんやめて!死なないで!なにが起こったとしてもいつもあなたは私たちのヒーローだから。 But that doesn’t stop him. He takes the sword and then he cuts his own abdomen and dies honorably. |
