Happiness
The Iroquois were a prosperous tribe, they thrived off of happiness. There were three main things that the Iroquois gained points for in the happiness area:
1.) Expanding their land, 2.) Building long houses 3.) Growing in population. In the game, this is portrayed by them gaining points when they Expand their land by getting more tiles, Build more longhouses for their city, and grow in population by getting more citizens. The game is very accurate historically in portraying the Iroquois and their happiness. |
Production
Farming was one of the basic productions, commonly harvesting "The Three Sisters": corn, beans, and squash. You get a major bonus in the game if you are gardening or mining, which is really important for the Iroquois production. The Iroquois men were responsible for hunting, trading, fighting, and anything involving the production of wood, while the women took care of farming, food gathering, and housekeeping. The men made canoes, houses, and tools, which gives you extra cultural points in the game. These cultural points help your civilization expand much faster. Farming, fishing, and building longhouses increase their cultural and happiness points, which is related to our policy, tradition. The Iroquois are known for building longhouses, which is the "unique building" in the game, so we can easily say that the game is really accurate in telling the Iroquois' history.

Land
The Iroquois lived near a river that gave them access to food and things to trade, which gave them points for Land Elite (+2). Because they traded so often, they made paths to other places, which would cause their land to expand. Producing long houses helped them expand as well. Therefore they had more land and buildings which then created more land/space. The Iroquois can move through forests and jungles on friendly territory as if they were roads. The Iroquois gained points for expanding their land. |

War on the Iroquois' Land
When enemies came on the Iroquois' land and caused a war, the Iroquois would gain land advantage for having the war on their land. For example, a war between the Iroquois and the Europeans. Since the Europeans came over to their land, the Iroquois had more of an advantage to win the war because they knew the land and had a better knowledge of the surroundings. |
Weapons
The Iroquois used a limited but creative range of weapons. They had limited technology but that did not stop them from defending themselves. The Iroquois used mostly bows and arrows in combat. They also had swords and knifes that were used to fight if they happened to run out of arrows in the middle of war. Civilization V rewards extra points for having these weapons with the Tradition policy. In the game, they can earn two to five points using these weapons. The game is historically accurate in portraying this part of the Iroquois. The Iroquois used these weapons and the game does reward extra points.
